Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
Government of Canada in partnership with four Atlantic provinces created the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
The four Atlantic provinces are:
• New Brunswick
• Newfoundland and Labrador
• Nova Scotia
• Prince Edward Island
The Program created to help the employers in these Provinces to hire qualified candidates for jobs they haven’t been able to fill locally. These candidates can be overseas or living in Canada temporarily.
The employer must be designated by the provincial government of the Atlantic province where the candidate will be working, before they make the job offer.
There are three programs an employer can use to hire someone:
• Atlantic High-skilled Program
• Atlantic Intermediate-skilled Program
• Atlantic International Graduate Program
The employer and the candidate must meet specific requirements for each program.
Upon employer and candidate meet all the requirements, the candidate gets permanent resident status in Canada.
These are the steps an employer needs to take to get the designated employer status.
1. Work with a settlement service provider organization
2. Apply to the province to become designated
When the employer finds the right candidate
3. Make sure the job and the candidate meet the requirements
4. Make a job offer
5. Submit an endorsement application to the province
6. Optional: Letter of Support for a temporary work Permit.
